SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO

and because i don't feel the NEED for me to take picture, therefore, i'm not motivated. this is what happens when you are set in a comfort zone. i'm not exactly at the fork of the road, but i've been thinking a lot (or too much) lately about how/who/when/what to photograph to update my portfolio or put myself out as a photographer. maybe once again i put all the pressure upon myself, but i don't know how to get started to shoot.
went for an interview with a client to discuss about possible projects to photograph and showed my portfolio and archphoto portfolio. have already sent a cost proposal and thought everything was going well. talked to the client on the phone before i left for zurich and was all ready to start on it when i came back. but since i came back, have been leaving messages, but no phone call from him. finally was able to talk to him on the phone, and he said that he hasn't make a decision yet, as he talked to two other photographers. **POW**
i understand is a matter of practicing, trial and error for client meeting. but man! how i wish that my photoshop skills can apply to how i represent myself! i don't have to say anything and all i have to do it's just show before and after and say: "see i can do this." lack of confidence is always my weakness. maybe also because of the fact that i'm part of archphoto, but not exactly there at that level. the reputation is too big for me. i don't want to ruin it. thinking back and forth what i should do.
i definitely have no intention to go, but if i want to be a photographer and not afraid about ruin other people's reputation i might be better off starting from scratch. but can i do it, that's the question. do i really need to do it and is it necessary? it's just super bitter that this guy graduated the same time as me, and started to see his work on the web and magazine... *sigh*

BURNT
Busy busy busy! What else i can say? Basically my life consist of work at the moment. Even though Von and I are doing things on a regular basis (i.e. concerts at the park, saw Feist and Damien Rice, going to see Les Mis, and Fall for Dance) fun activities. But damn it I am so burnt out! I am so brain dead I can't even think straight. Literally there are so many things I want to do when I go home, but just getting home it's been a trip itself, and seriously don't want to bother with anything.
I don't recall when was the last time I felt so exhausted inside out. Maybe when I was in school? Trying to juggle with my supervisor job at Mason St (school's equipment checkout) and dealing with stupid kids that keep breaking equipment on a regular basis, and find time traveling around throughout California, to photograph some nice projects for class. I guess same thing here, trying to balance work and my own shit. From experience and previous example I can manage fine with work but never my own personal things.
My family often says that whoever hire me is super lucky, because I am more concern about their work and totally take it as my own. My motto is "Other people will have priority over me." As if one day, if myself and my job fell into the water, I will save my job first. (Bad example, but you know what I mean). Totally not bragging about how responsible I am, but shit man! I gotta think what the hell I want to do. But what exactly I want to do? Too many things! But I guess first step is a short vacation and get the hell out of the city. Seriously been thinking about go camping. My initial thought was September, but hello?! It's September already, and doesn't look like I can get two days off at this point. Shall we try again in October before it gets too cold? If not, it'll be two months before the next holiday hits. And I better keep my fingers crossed that I don't have to work through it.
HAPPIER NOTE
Damien Rice fuckin' ROCK! The concert was so damn cool and it sound nothing like his CDs. Seriously this is the reason why you would want to go see a concert! Hearing something completely different from what you usually hear in a CD! The different arrangement and ways to perform the song. The different elements from the crowds that help produce and enhance how you play! The instant reaction of playing a B flat instead of a C chord to throw people off but still sound great! The lighting, the drums, the cello, the guitar, and the voice! It's been seriously awhile since I saw a concert that made me have goosebumps all over throughout the show. It was so exciting that I can't believe I was actually experiencing it. (I think I just made myself sound like a music geek, but shit who cares!) Anyway, how I wish that my brain has an internal hard drive where I can record the sound and sight that night. Seriously, if I do have that feature, you know that's one concert I'll be repeating it constantly!

SHE'S DEFINITELY NOT JOKING ABOUT PROPS SHOPPING
Von is putting together a shoot for her portfolio, and asked me to go shopping with her. She's definitely not joking about it. We were totally hauling glass jars and other things. Thank god I got a backpacking pack today to put some stuff. (Excuses for me to get a long waited pack:)). We still haven't gone to Home Depot to get PVC pipes yet. We shall continue next week.

TEA TIME
I said to myself that no more food picture this time because it was taking up too much memory on my phone and there are not enough picture with me in it. But then again there aren't awhole lot of pix of me this time either. That's just not me.
Anyway, have been walking around since lunch time and trying to find a nice gift for my beloved. You know who you are;-) but instead was in a bookstore for two hours. Heehee... Gotta love design and architecture books...
Since the whole time I was here, we've been having coffee or some sort in the afternoon. It is now a must for me especially I've been walking so much. I got a little greedy! I want desert with my cappuccino. And I had a dilemma of what to choose. Chocolate or hazelnut? Guess what I chose?

LUNCH TIME ON MY OWN
Basically today is my last day in Zurich, and since Ed has a meeting with a client, I'm on my own today. Didn't a little shopping mainly chocolate (like I can afford anything else that are famous in Switzerland) for friends and family. Was riding the tram around town the whole day. Lunch time rolled around, and instead of eating in a restaurant I decided to go to a deli and grab random food on display.
For lunch today, we have shrimp salad with pineapple, some sort of baked pork?! I am quite sure that is pork and not something I won't eat. ie lamb or whatever internal organ. One reason why I stayed away from sausage although it looked good. Also to go with the pork. Cro-ssant (sp?!). And last but not least the beaverage of choice traveling in Switzerland and Austria: Apfelsaft! Also known as sparkling apple juice.
Found a random spot to eat and stalk people in the city. ;) lunch is good and the day is definitely nice and relaxing.

i am known to carry a bag where ever i travel w/o driving a car... so mainly ppl in sf have no idea how much of a bag-hog i am... my relatives in macau were the first to notice that, and often comment "what's in your bag? isn't it heavy?"
so... here's my version of The Items We Carry Pool... this is literally what i carry w/ me almost everyday.. it is a whole lot of things, but definitely feel awkward w/o one of these items...

HOME SWEET HOME
so we've been back for a week. busy busy busy! but it's great to be back home. 10 days no sleeping in your own bed can bring a person down. don't get me wrong, we had a blast! seeing my buddies and hanging out with them is great. badminton two nites in a week is great! i for sure miss playing a lot. and of coz my friends decided to do the ultimate! bowling after badminton! holy shit my thigh and arm! useless for the next couple of days, and i was walking like a robot to teeny's wedding!
the wedding was fantastic! it was a small intimate wedding. it was almost like a "mason street" reunion. (mason street was the equipment checkout at school. teeny and i were supervisors when we worked there, along w/ amber and pitty). we had so much fun and i can proudly say that i did not get drunk at all, mainly because we were drinking wine. i think i can conclude that i'm more of a wine drinker than any other alocholic drinks. so anyway, we had tons of fun at the wedding. good fun!

so to end the note on the empty street in SF. what a big difference! literally you can be out on the street of new york (depending on where you are really) but there'll still be people around 3am. my 'hood for instance. you can still find places to eat and drink. i guess we're used to seeing people around at nite now.
and oh yeah! for whatever reason, apparently we look like we are from out of town. regardless i have lived in the bay area for almost 15 years. every shop we went to, we are greeted by "where are you guys from?" and some even asked "are you guys from new york?" how?! how?! how?! do we have "I heart NY" on our forehead?! even my friends said we don't look/act like californians anymore. oh no! we are bitches and assholes now! haha. j/k!

VON VON BIRTHDAY BASH
hence the title, today is von's birthday. i manage to surprise her pretty good this year and actually made her cry with joy. heehee. it's nice that she loves all the gifts that i got her and the dinner! you have no idea how stress out i was. i'm actually really bad with coming up with gifts and what to do on occasion like these. but briefly on what i did. so i made a card basically as an invitation/game card for her. she had to collect all the pieces to find out where we're heading to dinner. and after collecting all the pieces of the puzzle, she then can exchange them to get her birthday gifts. yeah man! you gotta work it to get your birthday gifts! heehee... it worked out well and she did manage to find out the name of the restaurant with out one of the pieces.
i guess the highlight of all the gifts would be the ring that we've been looking for in ages! i basically got the same one when i was in bregenz, but it was too big and it didn't fit her. so i end up keeping it for myself. and i somehow manage to find the matching one to it and it has her size! amazing i tell you! sometime, things just work out without planning it. it's great! and i definitely enjoy the whole process planning it. thank of coz, i thank von for the great reaction when she opened her presents. 唔好話佢開禮物感動到喊呀. 我見到佢咁感動,我都想喊呀! it was really sweet. ok enough with the cheese. may i present you glimps of von von birthday's bash...

p.s. not sure if anyone notices it, but i actually uploaded the pix from europe on flickr for quite sometime. as you can see i no longer talk about the trip. not because i don't care, it's just that i had so much fun, i don't even know how to restart it any more! how about we do a Q&A session instead! haha...

THE DARK SIDE OF ME
i was definitely hating life as soon as i got off from work today. not because of work, but simply the commute back home was a total bitch today. literally took me 1hr45 min door to door to get home today, when usually should only take 45min. and i mean there was already a bus by where i work and i was totally able to hop on. there was the subway as soon as i got to the station. but what made it worst? freakin' commuters! simply just fuckin' rude and elbow everyone, and eating that totally spilled on people! i was on the express subway, which means there it should be FAST! while local train stops every stop, meaning it should be slower than an express train. then please explain to me why the EXPRESS train that i was on never got pulled into the station for the final stop? why did the express train had to stop and wait on the rail for 20min? and why the hell THREE local trains were able to pull into the station? WHAT THE FUCK?!

i was definitely hating life as soon as i got off from work today. not because of work, but simply the commute back home was a total bitch today. literally took me 1hr45 min door to door to get home today, when usually should only take 45min. and i mean there was already a bus by where i work and i was totally able to hop on. there was the subway as soon as i got to the station. but what made it worst? freakin' commuters! simply just fuckin' rude and elbow everyone, and eating that totally spilled on people! WEEKEND RECAP
long weekend! it was great! coz usually if you work in the art field, there is no such thing as public holidays... so i was definitely lucky to have one! so recap for the long weekend...
as you see from the previous post... von and i went to chill at the park after work... we actually took some more pix.. but yeah.. too lazy or the motto answer "we're too busy to upload pix on flickr!" so yeah... you'll just have to deal with it!
saturday was pretty much getting ready for chris' departure back to macau for dun know how long... so i was playing the chef and got steak and made her "last supper" at "chandler and monica's home" bye bye "joey!" following dinner was couple of hours of wiiiiiiiii.... i seriously think that meiko, chris and stanley broke my sofa bed! actually it all started at the x'mas party last year when 5ppl decided to lean on the sofa bed and kiss the wall...

anyway, so dinner was great! had a good time! thx everyone for coming and i swear to god, the miis for stanley, chris and meiko do not look like them! and stanley, face it! you're as chubby as i am! dun try to be a lady killer! hahah...
sunday pretty much took it easy in the morning to do laundry and yum cha w/ kau fu + kau mo... then went to work to assist paul on a shoot at the palm store in rockafella center... it's amazing that there were literally no one on the street beside tourist... it took us literally 15min from williamsburg to rockafella center...
sunday beach beach beach beach beach! need i say more? von and i just packed all the munchy and head to coney island and pretty much lounge there until we both got burnt from the sun! it was so fun~~ gotta do that again... actually we were both thinking we should just go there every weekend... long day activity, low cost and getting all the vitamin D as much as we want! so yeah... fun fun fun...

thx a lot meowknit! i'm officially back to reality and it sucks. got back early this afternoon, and was very productive unpacking and just taking it easy. ed told me try to stay up before midnite so i won't be all jet-lag. and of coz he told me that i will feel especially tire around 6. it is not 5:40 and shit my battery is shutting down. alert alert! system shut down!
i'll try to stay up and put up some pix. if not, i guess this weekend. i already know that the next couple of days we'll be super busy!

LAST DAY IN LOIPERSDORF
got up early this morning to start on the pool shoot. we made really good progess for the past couple of days, and manage to finish the shoot ahead of time. good good! my boss (eduard, in case all of you have been wondering.. haha..) thank me for pushing him, because he said he's feeling lazy. i don't blame him, he's been in austria traveling back and forth for the past month. he is actually staying for another month here to do more projects. he'll be flying to beijing, belgium, driving to zurich back and forth again for the next couple of weeks. sounds appealing, but trust me, after these two weeks, i can imagine why he dislike it more and more. traveling is a bitch! especially driving and arrive at the location and start shooting. if i already miss my bed, can you imagine him staying at different places all the time? there is no place like home for sure...
anyway, so today is pretty much the last day as loipersdof, as we finished around 2pm. that means free time to chill and relax! so i did it! i went to treat myself at the spa! hahah. i mean seriously what else i can do at the spa and resort type of hotel thing? i mean if there were any sports, i would totally jump into it. but, there weren't any beside the pool and M A S S A G E. yup! you heard me right! i went and got myself a massage... it was ok... i wish the lady would put more pressure! but anyhow, it was cool. so i had a 50min massage, swam one lap in the pool, got myself toasted in the sauna, and attempt to get burnt under the sun, which i did not succeed. it was great fun and very relaxing. but i just wished that i wasn't alone doing all these. i miss von! i'm getting home sick for sure, and just can't wait to fly back to my b.
anywho, tomolo will be driving back to bregenz. ed said we'll take a scenic route, which means, we have pretty much drove through 75% of austria. roadtrip baby! but a long drive for him, since i don't have my international license, and i don't think he wants me to burn another clutch! heehee. so, 8hrs drive back to bregenz. monday we'll be going to zurich again for the last shoot. then bright tuesday morning i'm heading back to NYC lah! time surely fly when we have a pack schedule! has it been 2 weeks already? ekkk..
this is exactly what i do half of the time w/ my phone camera... i take pix of myself reflecting! yes i am deeply in love w/ my looks... hahah... this is the room i'm staying in, see if you can figure out where things are...
i actually swam a lap in that pool.. holy shit i am so out of shape! badmin anyone?
